Richard
Sherman has said goodbye to his wife Helen and son Ricky for the summer while he
stays in NYC. Determined to follow orders, Richard is going to not smoke, eat
properly, not drink, etc., etc. but most of all, he is resolved not to ‘play
around’. Richard lives on the ground floor of a brownstone building. On his
first night alone his active imagination goes into overdrive. During a
conversation with his alter ego the audience sees all his worries. Then the
apartment buzzer rings – the new tenant has not got her key. He lets her in
and Wow!! Despite being married for seven years he has eyes! Richard’s
imagination meets reality and the audience share both with him while he
struggles not to scratch an itch.
